Hiroshima University, in its efforts to promote its internationalization, has established university-level exchange agreements with 178 institutions across 43 countries and regions, taking a proactive role in implementing research exchange and student mobility programs. One in every 13 of our students is an international student, making our campus an increasingly vibrant hub for international exchange.

Meanwhile, over 500 of our Japanese students every year utilize a variety of overseas dispatch programs to study around the world.

It is against this backdrop of promoting internationalization that the Global Campus Institute was established in April 2024 as a joint educational and research facility within Hiroshima University. Its mission is to advance our globalization and expand our educational and research networks overseas, while fostering the creation of new value through industry-academia-government collaboration in partnership with alumni, private companies, and government agencies in both Japan and abroad.

At the core of our initiatives lies “overseas co-creation.” This entails cultivating individuals with a global perspective and building cooperative relationships around the world through collaboration that transcends the boundaries of education and research. Addressing global challenges and realizing a sustainable society requires the fusion of diverse knowledge and experiences. To that end, we will make full use of Hiroshima University’s bountiful academic resources and, together with our domestic and international partners, deliver innovative and practical solutions.

Moreover, what we are aiming to achieve is not merely the promotion of international activities. We also place great importance on our ties with the local community, while recognizing the role Hiroshima University must play in global society. We are committed to working closely with local communities, companies, and our international network to foster highly skilled individuals who will advance overseas co-creation and grow together with our partners.

We sincerely hope that the activities of our institute will help open the door to a better future for our students, faculty and staff, and partners around the world. Moving forward, we will continue to work with our partners in the creation of new value.
